Eye wear

It is no secret that I've been working for five years in front of a computer and my eyes are relaxed only during break time and in time of sleep. But lately, for 5 consecutive days, my eyes felt sore and I noticed that it was always accompanied by headache. Aside from this, my eyes were teary and I can't tolerate the pain anymore. I am sure this is not sore eyes because my eyes weren't red and fluffy. Maybe this is an eye strain, what do you think?
When I talked to my officemate, she told me that I might be suffering from astigmatism because she felt the same too and then she advised me to consult an eye specialist to confirm my condition.
I think I need to wear eyeglasses like my officemate who was required to wear it and ordered her second one in $8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses. But I'm wondering how will I look if I wear eyeglasses and what frame should I choose? Will I get used to it or shall I prefer using contact lens instead, but what lens color will fit me?
I haven't consulted a doctor yet and I am hoping that my eyes will still be in 20/20 vision.
